Found a new species of titi monkey in the Colombian Amazon



research expedition in the Amazon found a species of monkey previously unknown size of a cat. The animal belongs to the family of marmoset monkeys (Callicebus), of which about 20 known species. Was found in southern Colombia. It has gray and brown fur and a long tail, as reported by Conservation International.

The researchers, led by Defler and Marta Bueno of the National University of Colombia, called the new species, Callicebus caquetensis as Callicebus is the scientific name for the squirrel monkey and Caqueta is the Colombian department in which it was found.
